MEET THE COACH

Cat Cunningham, MSW, LCSW | NASM-CPT

Hi, I’m Cat! I’ve been working in the Boston fitness industry since 2016, helping people build strength, sustainable habits, and confidence in their bodies. Currently, I work with clients through private virtual and in-person strength training, as well as strategy coaching. In 2024, I founded Brunch Club Boston, a weekly social run club focused on building community through movement.

A Collaborative Approach to Coaching

My coaching is deeply informed by my background in mental health. In addition to training, I work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Down Syndrome Program, having earned my Master’s in Social Work from Boston University. My clinical experience—ranging from social-emotional learning in Cambridge Public Schools to maternal health at Mount Auburn Hospital—shapes how I coach. I bring a compassionate, attentive, and collaborative lens to every session, creating a safe space for clients to be vulnerable, build resilience, and step comfortably outside their comfort zones.

Background & Experience

Before starting my independent coaching practice, I spent years as a trainer and Tier X Coach at Equinox Sports Club Boston, where I coached hundreds of clients through habit change, nutrition, and strength programming. My passion for movement started early: I ran Division I Track & Field at the University of Vermont while earning my degree in Psychology with minors in Nutrition and Communication Sciences. Today, I’m still a lifelong runner who loves competing and running for fun around Boston.

Beyond the Gym

My life doesn't revolve around my personal fitness—and I don't expect my clients' lives to, either. I focus on integrating healthy, realistic habits into everyday life, an approach my clients find deeply relatable. Outside of coaching and clinical work, you can find me running, biking, skiing, trying new local coffee spots, or relaxing at home with my husband and our cat, Scout.
